The girl was waiting for a school bus on Asbury Avenue when a black Kia sedan approached her, the Cheltenham Township Police Department explained. A man in the vehicle called the girl over to the car, threatened her, and grabbed her cell phone from her hands.

After stealing the cell phone, the vehicle fled the scene, according to police. The girl, who wasn't injured in the incident, called 911, and reported the crime.

Police later learned that the same vehicle approached two other bus stops in the areas of Mountain Avenue and Valley Road and attempted similar robberies.

The vehicle is a black four-door sedan with tinted windows, damage to the front bumper area, and an unknown Delaware license plate, police said. The people in the vehicle were described as two Black men and a Black woman in their late teens or early 20s. The woman has red or maroon braided hair.

Police ask that anyone who can help identify these three people contact the Cheltenham Township Police Department at 215-885-1600 ext. 400. They are also asking any residents or business owners in the area of Asbury Avenue, Mountain Avenue, and Valley Road to check their exterior cameras for relevant images from 7 a.m. to 8 a.m. on Sept. 25.

Anyone observing suspicious activity or persons approaching students at school bus stops should immediately call 911, police said.
